DON’T ALL DUCKS HAVE LISPS? I THINK SO….

I really thought ventriloquism was a cool thing when I was a kid. I watched Jimmy Nelson’s dummy, Danny O’Day, and Paul Winchell’s Jerry Mahoney & Knucklehead Smiff with rapt attention. Mom even bought me a little Danny O’Day dummy and I tried to do that “thing” where your lips don’t move… I did okay until I got to the B’s, M’s, and P’s. All the ads in the comics gave the impression that you could “throw” your voice as if it were coming out of a suitcase or whatever. I was a gullible kid, I admit. I gave ventriloquism up pretty much –  and then Jim Henson and the Muppets happened… Naturally, I was hooked! (And still am!)
